Massage Therapy

Claire Benson Dorset based massage therapist

Having been a professional dancer for many years, I have been lucky enough to have spent years developing the art of touch in a way that has inevitably shaped the way in which I approach massage therapy. As a dancer, I have endured what feels like every type of muscular ache and pain and have always turned to massage for relief, rehabilitation and physical well being.

To this day, I am always amazed at how quickly the body responds to touch and it has certainly been without a doubt the most effective form of treatment through out my dancing career.

My experience in massage has developed organically. In the early days I relied heavily on the massage exchange with fellow dance company members and somehow I always ended up being the ‘go to’ person for aches and pains.. fast forward some twenty years later and teamed with a holistic massage qualification, I feel that all my years of experience when working with the body, combined with a deeper understanding of the human anatomy has allowed me to really unlock this connection I have with the body through touch. I rely on a sense of instinct as well as learnt technique to help unlock the tension within the body.

What to expect

As every one of my clients has different needs, I feel it is important to spend a little bit of time looking at what type of treatment you require. I really want to make sure that you have the most uplifting and enjoyable experience that leaves you with a sense of wellness and inner calm. I will listen to you and understand what you and your body needs. My massage practise is about making sure you have a truly relaxing experience whilst also trying to relieve any tension that is causing you pain. The holistic effects of massage are vast, but somehow most importantly, I feel passionately about the need for human touch due to the knock-on effects of the corona virus. We all need to be nurtured and I hope I can provide some much needed support and care.
